When we started choosing our favourite images of 2012 and realized:

1. Just how much fun we had with our clients this last year – Thank you so much!
2. Just how much our photographic eye has changed, our skills have grown, our passion has increased.

As we hand picked these images I was struck by how many “candid” images were dear to my heart. Moments where best friends cried together, a couple sneaking away to dance when no one was looking, onlookers reminiscing of days gone by. It reminded me of a consultation we had with a couple a few weeks ago. The couple asked us what our favourite part of the day to photograph was. A few years ago if I was honest, I would have said it was the Portrait session and detail images. These are after all, what we as Photographers live for…right…? Although I do still love the Portrait session with more posed shots, I realized that what I even love more are the unplanned, whimsical happenings. The scattered showers of love and chance that show up at every Wedding. My favourite shot, and the moment that the bride and groom will never see until they receive their photographs is the look in their parents eyes when the couple takes their first kiss. These are photographs I am proud of. They are the moments that can only be told through photos and that often the couple didn’t even know took place.  It’s not a 30 second read, you might have to commit more attention than that – but its worth the time. These photos tells stories and evokes memories for those that we were privileged enough to share a sacred day with.

To be honest, I get nervous before every wedding I photograph. Combine that with my exuberant fear of flying and way too much coffee at 3:30am and I was shaking all over at YVR! But ohh Mexico – what a trip! The weather was so warm and so was the couple who invited me. Anny and Alan are top-notch people and so are their friends and family. Who books a destination wedding and has around 100 people show up from ALL OVER the world? Oh yes – Anny and Alan. It was so easy to see why! From the moment I landed to the moment I left this unique gathering of people was hands down the kindest group I have photographed, and the couple themselves were so excited to be with each other. There is just something about photographing a couple who is genuine and unashamed to be who are they are with each other that is irreplaceable. Congrats and all the best in your new life together!

One of my favourite experiences as a Photographer is being able to have clients who are willing to be photographed in a genuine and true way. It takes level of self confidence and being ok with who you are as a person in order to be photographed in a such a way – and that is exactly who Karla and François are. I can’t tell you how fun and outgoing these two are and I feel it just shines through their wedding day. Enjoy some of our hand picked moments.

Katie and Kyle’s wedding was one of our favourites- not because of the details or dress (although they were pretty fun) but because of themselves. They are both such genuine people that it was easy to get swept up in the love that their friends and family had for them and the love they had for each other. We could talk on and on but i’d rather show you.
